SEO and PPC in the Same Listings

This week it has been confirmed that Bing, the up and coming search engine fighting to take a decent market share of users from the dominate force that is Google, will be trying something new.  There test will be of major interest to your UK SEO company so it is worth keeping an eye on the latest news to see how it may affect your marketing.

If you follow SEO you will know that the search engine results pages are split into PPC advertisements and organic search.  The two or three top results are the PPC results and what follows are the SEO results which are organically created. Bing has now decided to incorporate both of these types of listings together.  So instead of having the different listings easily recognisable on the SERPs, now you will have a single list and the adverts could appear anywhere down the page.

There have been a lot of complaints about this as it is not obvious which results have been naturally created, and which have been purchased to be there. A report created by Barry Scwartz on Search Engine Land discusses how unethical this type of search engine results page is. Bing has stated that they are constantly looking at ways of evolving their results and this is an experiment to see the reaction of the users and how the users engage with these results.

The Advantages of Both PPC and SEO

Traditionally there have been some very good reasons for investing in both types of listings.  PPC can bring instant results.  You can speak to your UK web design company and ask them to help you create your PPC ads.  These will appear when a user types in a relevant keyword which you have associated with your ad.  If your chosen web design company offers UK SEO then they will be able to research your keywords to ensure your ads are optimised to benefit your site.

The UK SEO company will be able to work on your optimisation in order to ensure you site reaches the organic listings over time.  Unlike PPC this is often a longer process as the whole idea of these listings is that they are created organically.  This is achieved by your UK web design company in various ways such as by creating quality content on your site, bringing value to users, and creating backlinks.

Within the first few weeks your PPC campaign can help to bring in traffic while the UK SEO company works on slowly building your SEO listings.  Once your PPC campaign has come to an end you should be able to still make the first page of search thanks to the efforts put in by the SEO experts.  Together this is an excellent formula to give your website a great traffic boost and to maintain high levels of visitors.

Time will tell how Bing interprets the results of the experiment by mixing the two listings on the SERPs.  Your UK web design company will be paying close attention to the findings, but it is still worth investing a little of your marketing budget into PPC and SEO.  Although Bing is gradually growing, Google has the largest market share of browsers and on their SERPs the PPC are still positioned at the top and sides of the page while SEO listings make up the rest.
